About Margie
Welcome! I’m Margie Martin Campbell, and I am so glad you have made your way to this corner of the internet.
I live in the beautiful, rolling hills of northwestern West Virginia, a place that gives me plenty of space to observe, think, and write. My lifelong relationship with words led me to earn an undergraduate degree in creative writing and a master’s degree in technical writing.
For years, I had the privilege of bringing these two worlds together in the classrooms of community colleges. I have an immense appreciation for community colleges—they are vital, unique spaces where someone can learn a practical trade or dive into standard academic college courses side by side. While teaching, my favorite part of the job was always interacting with my students, watching them find their voices, and engaging in meaningful conversations.
Why “Outta My Head”?
Though I am no longer at the front of a college classroom, my mind hasn’t stopped working! I constantly find myself struck by ideas, questions, and observations that excite me. Instead of letting those thoughts bounce around in isolation, I wanted to create a digital front porch where I could share them with readers like you. This website is a space for thought-provoking reflections on:
- Social Issues: Looking at the world around us with empathy and nuance.
- Self-Discovery: Exploring the internal journeys we all go through (both my own and yours).
- The Writing Process: Pulling back the curtain on the craft, from the messy first draft to the finished product.
I don’t believe in shouting matches or internet arguments. I enjoy thoughtful, non-confrontational discussions where we can learn from one another. My hope is that my reflections inspire you to take the thoughts “outta your head” and share them here, too.
Thank you so much for stopping by. Let’s explore together!
